American Translators Association<br/>Portland, OR

On November 1, 2024, following a thoughtful, eloquent introduction by Christina Green, who heads the American Translators Association’s Advocacy Committee, Red T chair Vigdis Eriksen accepted the ATA Advocacy Award on behalf of Red T. Granted in even-numbered years, the award “recognizes a person or entity that has demonstrated outstanding advocacy for the language professions in general, for the importance of professional translators and interpreters, and/or for the greater societal understanding of the value of professional translators and interpreters.”

In her remarks, Vigdis thanked Christina Green, Beth Smith, Caitilin Walsh and all those involved in the nomination process for this honor. She also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Maya Hess, the non-profit’s founder, as well as the selfless contributions of board members, sponsors and volunteers, emphasizing that this “recognition belongs to everyone who has supported the Red T cause.”
